Commissioner’s Message 2010
Twelve years ago Vic Zoldy put together a small group of men who just wanted to have fun playing ball.
This year 144 men from 60 to 83 will play 50 games from April to October. They are men of all sizes, backgrounds, and sports abilities. They all will try to live up to the league motto “If you
had fun, you won”.
When I agreed to be commissioner it was the love of this league and the camaraderie it brings that motivated me. I look forward to each game for the fun between the guys as much as playing the game. It is like having 144 teammates and friends
We enjoy it so much we have an indoor winter league from January to March that keeps us active in the cold weather. About half of our summer players play in the winter league.
During the year we play about 20 home-and-home doubleheaders with other senior organizations. After the
games we break bread and establish new friendships. I am very proud of our travel team and the ambassadors they
have become.
Safety has always been a key and we are constantly adding ways to prevent injuries. This includes training three members of each team on CPR and defibrillator use yearly.
I invite everyone I meet to come see a game. They usually see an exciting game filled with laughing, kidding, and camaraderie. It usually leads to a new member.
Fun comes first in our league but being a team member and trying to win each game is significant. I hope to see you at a game, make sure you say hello.
