Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What sets the MCSSL apart from other local softball leagues?
If you are 60+ years old, the MCSSL makes playing recreational slowpitch softball a treat. We play softball because we love the game, and we enjoy getting exercise and fellowship within our league. Everybody plays defense and bats in our games regardless of your playing skill. We have one winter and three summer divisions so you can play year-round if you wish. You will be proud to have friends and loved ones come out to watch you play MCSSL softball.

How do you get your players?
We recruit players from a variety of sources, including ads in local newspapers, radio interviews, the Internet, and word of mouth. We also maintain a list of interested players so that teams can add a player or two during the season if needed.
What is the level of competition?
We are a recreational league and do not keep standings or have playoffs, but the play is competitive in all our divisions. Everybody plays defense and bats regardless of your playing skill. We play for fun and love of the game.
What about player safety?
Player safety is our number one concern. A number of softball playing rules are modified for player protection. There are two first base bags and a separate scoring plate at home to help avoid player collisions. We use single-wall aluminum bats and lower compression softballs. Pitchers are required to wear a face mask or use a pitching screen. Three players on each team are trained in CPR and Defibrillator use.
Does the league have social events?
We have two picnics each year for all our players. At mid-season, we have a family picnic. We also have an annual Holiday Party in December each year.
