About the League
The Montgomery County Senior Softball League is a Slow Pitch League that had its beginnings in March of 1999. It has ten teams and a travel team. The league is made up of male players 60 years of age and older, whose skills may not have kept pace with their enjoyment of the game.
The league mission statement was compiled in 1999 by Vic Zoldy, the league founder, and continues to remain in effect. Everyone plays and bats. The league emphasis is on safe play, having fun, demonstrating sportsmanship, getting some exercise, having some laughs, enjoying camaraderie, and winning, in that order of importance. We don't worry about dropping or misjudging fly balls, striking out, missing ground balls, bad throws, or having back-to-back senior moments, as we have all done these things in the past, and will likely continue to do so in the future. We are thankful we can still play for the love of the game.
If you are interested in playing in the league please complete and send in the application form located on the home page. Players will be assigned as openings arise on our teams. If you are not sure about playing, come out and see a game at our field, School Road Park, 1619 School Road, Hatfield. Schedule is on the home page.
One Pitch Tournament
The MCSSL will hold a one-pitch tournament on
Monday, June 22 at School Road Park. The tournament features fast-moving games, friendly competition, and a chance to
play with players from teams other than your own. As the name one-pitch implies, batters start with a 3 and 2 count. That means a strike is an out, a foul ball is an
out, and a ball is a walk.
To sign-up to play in the tournament, send an email to Jim Marple at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than June 8th.
The MCSSL will hold a golf outing at Skippack GC on Thursday, June 25th. It will be a 4-man team scramble event and the cost is $45 per person. Sign up with a team or as an individual with Joe Juba or Mike DeStefano no later than June 15th.
