Annual Holiday Party
On Saturday, December 3rd, a good number of players and their significant others gathered for the party at the Church of the Messiah Parish House for food and festivities. As you will see in the photos below, which were taken by Jim Young, a good time was had by all.

The players of the Montgomery County Senior Softball League are extremely grateful to Univest for its help in furnishing a portable defibrillator for use in emergencies. |
"Age is a case of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it don't matter." Satchel Paige
The Montgomery County Senior Softball League is a Slow Pitch League that had its beginnings in March of 1999. It is now going into its twelfth season with nine teams, Magics, Marshalls, Marvels, Maulers, Mavericks, Midnights, Minutemen, Mongrels, and Mustangs, and the travel team, the Marauders.
The league is for male players 60 years of age and older, whose skills may not have kept pace with their enjoyment of the game.
Those applying to our league for the first time will be assigned chronologically to a waiting list for openings on our existing six teams. Assignments to teams will be made as openings come up. If you have a team preference, please note so on your application form and we will try to accommodate you. Our past experience is that all applicants are assigned by mid May. Unassigned applicants may attend any or all of the practice sessions scheduled.
The League is registered with the Amateur Softball Association of Pennsylvania (ASA) and abides by
most of their rules except for those which have been 'softened' to protect the players.
The league mission statement was compiled in 1999 by Vic Zoldy, the league founder, and
continues to remain in effect. Everyone plays and bats. The league emphasis is on safe play, having fun, demonstrating sportsmanship, getting some exercise, having some laughs, enjoying camaraderie, and winning, in that order of importance. We don't worry about dropping or misjudging fly balls, striking out, missing ground balls, bad throws, or having back to back senior moments, as we have all done these things in the past, and will likely continue to do so in the future. We are thankful we can still play for the love of the game.
Membership contribution is $90.00 per player per season and this pays for balls, bats, insurance coverage, postage, and other league expenditures.
